About Vince Alexander
Vince Alexander is a highly respected figure in NCAA Division II men’s basketball, with a coaching career spanning over two decades. As of 2021, he is the head coach of Clayton State University’s men’s basketball team, after a successful tenure at Saint Leo University and a notable 10-year period at USC Aiken.
At USC Aiken, Alexander built a powerhouse program, leading the team to three Peach Belt Conference (PBC) tournament titles, four regular-season titles, and even a Final Four appearance. His success there earned him three NABC Regional Coach of the Year awards. He continued to be a successful coach at Saint Leo, where he led the team to multiple winning seasons and was instrumental in the development of several standout players.
Beyond his on-court achievements, Alexander emphasizes creating a “family culture” within his teams. He believes in the importance of strong communication and fostering a supportive environment for his players and staff. This philosophy is evident in his approach at Clayton State, where he has focused on building a cohesive team culture that extends beyond just basketball.
Alexander’s career has also been shaped by personal decisions, such as his move to Saint Leo to support his wife’s family, showing his deep commitment to family values. This same commitment led to another move, when he left Saint Leo to be closer to his ailing mother in Texas, underscoring the importance he places on family in his life and career
